FLOTTILLA: DRONES USE BOB MARLEY’S MUSIC FOR THE ATTACK

We have reached a paradox: Bob Marley’s music used as a weapon by the Israeli regime.
They continue to play dirty: during the first attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla, bound for Gaza, Israeli army drones disrupted the boats’ radio communications by playing one of Bob Marley’s masterpiece tracks, Natural Mystic, before releasing sound bombs, irritating spray and other unidentified substances on the Flotilla activists.

Spiritual music, with a deeply pacifist meaning, turned into terror. Here is what happened.

Someone within the Israeli military ranks with a strong sense of inhumanity – similar to those who decided to ban food aid deemed “too nutritious” (dates, honey) or items that could bring a smile to Palestinian children’s faces (cookies, sweets) – thought it appropriate to play with the polysemy of the English word “blow” found in Natural Mystic, originally meaning “to blow” (as in wind), recontextualizing it and changing its meaning into “to explode, to blow up.”

Exactly so. Few heard the news, and even fewer looked into it further. That is why we want to show you how far the cruel and ruthless Zionist action, based not only on physical warfare but also on psychological and media warfare, is willing to go.

Natural Mystic is one of Bob Marley’s deepest and most spiritual songs; each of us has probably felt intense emotions listening to it.
Now, let’s try to imagine the reason why it was used as a weapon.

Picture yourself for a moment on board a small boat in the open sea, with the sole purpose of bringing relief to a population being mercilessly annihilated, and suddenly being surrounded by military drones… and now let’s read together the lyrics of Natural Mystic:

Poor Bob, he would have never imagined that his music would be used to fight against people asking only for dignity and self-determination, to fuel the logic of terror and the unchecked violence of a genocidal regime.

Thus, Natural Mystic becomes not only a song of spirituality and protest, but also a prophetic one – a prophecy revealed right on board the Global Sumud Flotilla’s ships.

All this can only raise moral, political, and cultural questions.
How can a song that speaks of wisdom, vision, and inner conflict be turned into an instrument of destruction and death?
Who authorized it, and why?

It may make some smile, but one must also ask: is there a violation of artistic consent? … Were copyright rights respected? … Do the legitimate rights holders of Bob know anything about this?

And finally: is the Marley family aware of all this? In particular, does Ziggy know, and what does he think about this?
